Wordpress up and running…

Obviously this post is evidence of a successful installation of wordpress on my web server, I’m very impressed. Installation was a breeze, it really wasn’t much more than dumping a directory of php files on my server and running a config script. What really impresses me is the configurability of the system, the ease with which you can add themes and plugins is great; you can dive into the php files and tweak them to get things just right, or write your own.

Ed Parsons recently noted how the EPA has started to provide superfund site data in XML, so I was thinking it would be nice if you could overlay this info on a Google Maps app, embedded in a wordpress blog? So I’ve had a brief scout around for a WP plugin that lets you insert GYM map into a WP page, there are a few out there but at first glance they seem pretty restrictive. Maybe we have to write our own?
